A bodywork session will integrate different types of modalities that are appropriate your horse. I take the time to get in tune with your horse on each visit to assess how they are feeling through their body language to navigate the direction of the work I do to release tension and compensations. Bodywork is a process that requires trust and acceptance of me and my work from your horse to allow for true progress. Each session is a sequence of pealing off layers of compensation, it is generally in your horses best interest to have follow up and maintenance sessions.
The goal of massage is to promote and maintain muscles at the optimum state of health. Benefits include: Increases circulation, flexibility, energy and vitality, reduces tension and muscle soreness, promotes relaxation and reduces stress, improves temperament and a more willing and able riding partner and supports overall well-being through rhythmic muscle manipulation.
Acupressure is a safe, non-invasive modality developed thousands of years ago as an important aspect of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). It uses precise finger or thumb placement and pressure over specific points along the horse's body. These points follow channels, known as meridians; activation of these points with pressure can improve blood flow, release tension, and enhance or unblock life force energy, known as "Qi". This release allows energy to flow more freely through the channels, which promotes relaxation, healing, and the restoration of proper function.
The equine fascial lines provide a way of understanding functional anatomy in relation to equine locomotion. The fascial lines connect muscles, tendons, and ligaments to form continuous lines within the horse's body. Thirteen equine fascial lines have been documented by Drs Schultz and Elbrond in 2015 through extensive research. Evaluation is done through swing and functional testing to reveal and isolate when a line or lines are under tension, then lines are released through a variety of techniques, including point work, manual fascial releases and massage.
